    How to load 2D diagnostics

    Article Summary

To load 2D diagnostics files, you must first have a completed 2D or 1D-2D linked simulation. Depending on the file type chosen, these will open directly in the Map view of the interface, within Excel, or within a text editor.

This functionality enables you to quickly and easily investigate diagnostics and troubleshoot issues.

    Note:

Selected diagnostic information can also be viewed when you load 2D results.

    Steps

    1. In the Simulations section of the Project panel, select the simulation name.

    2. Right-click and navigate to Load Diagnostics to open a further menu.

    3. Select from the eight options provided:

      1. Load cell status check grid(s) - loads check grids immediately into the Map view and the Layers panel. The cell status check grid is a particular type of check grid that details the status (boundary/active/inactive) of each cell in the domain. It has its own predefined colour ramp which will be applied automatically upon loading. In a multi-domain model, each domain will have its own cell status check grid.
      2. View 2D log file - opens the diagnostics in your native text editor, e.g. Notepad.
      3. Load all check grids - opens a window to select from all available check grids, such as ground elevation and initial water depth, for each domain. Check the ones of interest and then click OK to load into the Map view and the Layers panel.
      4. Load spatial diagnostics data - loads the shapefile into the Map view and the Layers panel. Viewing the shapefile attributes provides additional details from each point displayed on the map, including any error messages and the phase (build or run) where this occurred.
      5. Load z-mod check files - loads two files into the Layers panel; the ztrp file showing points where elevation data has been added, and the ztra file showing the triangulation of your z-mod features. Note that these file types are only applicable if the simulation contains z-mod (elevation modification) features.
      6. View simulation summary spreadsheet - opens the file in Microsoft Excel. Note that this will only be possible if you have chosen to save the simulation summary prior to running the simulation.
      7. View 2D mass balance file(s) - opens the mass balance files in Microsoft Excel.
      8. View 1D linked flow summary file(s) - opens the linked flow summary file in Microsoft Excel. Note that this file type is only applicable if the simulation is a linked 1D-2D simulation.
