How to move a 1D river node

    Article Summary

Note that to move a River Section node, you must first Add River Section to your network.

Note: this guide refers to the River Section node in particular, however the same method applies to all 1D river nodes.

If any river nodes are in the wrong location, you can edit their location by moving them in the map view. The revised locations will be saved when you save your network.

The procedure to move nodes is:

    • Activate the move nodes function by right-clicking on the map and selecting Move Nodes from the displayed menu.

    • Select one or multiple nodes by depressing the left mouse button and dragging a rectangle around the appropriate node(s). Selected nodes will be displayed with a thicker, blue outline.

    • When the mouse hovers over your selected nodes, depress the left mouse button to pick up the node and drag it to a new location. Release the mouse button when the node is at the required location.

    • If you have selected multiple nodes, hold down the Ctrl key with the left mouse button to drag all selected nodes together.

    • The Pan map function can be accessed while moving nodes. Clicking on the Pan icon (on the on-map controls or the main toolbar) will pause the move nodes mode, allowing you to pan to a new location. When you turn off the Pan function, you will be returned to Move Nodes mode.

    • You can exit the Move Nodes mode by right-clicking on the map and selecting the Move Nodes menu item again.

    • When you next save your river network, the new locations of the moved nodes will also be saved.

When multiple nodes are added to a river network, a line on the map will automatically appear to show the connectivity. For River Section nodes, this order is determined by the node order in the 1D River Network panel, displayed from upstream to downstream. For other node types, the node label determines the connectivity. Moving nodes on the map as described above will NOT adjust this connectivity.

To change the connectivity of River Section nodes in your network, please see the guide Working with River Section nodes. To change the connectivity of other node types, adjust the node labels accordingly.
