How to specify post-processing in a batch run

    Article Summary

The auto-plotting to image file functionality has been incorporated into the batch runner tool together with a function to auto-run TabularCSV (with an appropriate tcs settings file). This enables post-processing to be included in a batch run of 1D river simulations, exporting selected charts as jpeg images and selected node lists as csv text files. Automatic post-processing can be specified for one or multiple simulations defined within a batch. There are different ways of defining these tasks, as described below:

    Option 1

Add new settings file to the batch run and associate it to a selection of simulations within batch:

    1. Highlight the simulations that are to be included in a post-processing task (note this assumes the required 1D river simulations have been added to the batch run)

    2. Click the “Add from file” button in the post processing section of the toolbar. A browse window is displayed to enable selection of one or multiple analysis settings files. After a selection is made the list of currently defined analyses is displayed in a new window. The newly selected settings file(s) will be added to this list, with each new settings file automatically associated to the highlighted simulations, as shown below:

      • Simulations associated to the analysis. In addition, the status of each associated simulations is displayed, i.e. whether results are already available or the simulation needs to be run first.
      • Node labels referenced in the settings file (click the Nodes tab to see these)
    3. After defining analyses, this window also enables selected single or multiple analysis tasks to be run. Highlight the required task(s) and click the Run button to the right of the table.

    4. Other options provided by the Analyses window are detailed here in Review post-processing tasks within a batch run (below)

    Option 2

Select a post-processing file (i.e. a TabularCSV lng file or plot settings psf file) that has already been loaded and assign simulations to it (from the list of loaded simulations):

    1. Click the “Post processing files” button in the post processing section of the toolbar (note this assumes the required 1D river simulations have been added to the batch)

    2. The list of available post-processing files is displayed in a new window. Note that this window also provides a button (“Add file…”) to add additional post-processing files to the list.

    3. Click the Add analysis button. A new window is displayed listing available 1D river simulations and currently loaded post-processing settings files.

    4. Select the required post-processing settings file from the left-hand list. Then select the required simulation files to associate to the post-process from the right-hand list (one or multiple can be ticked here). Click the OK button to add these selections to the Analyses list as a new task.
