Time Series
This tab allows the user to output a .CSV file giving a time series for a range of different variables at selected nodes. The variable options are:
Flow and Stage
Stage
Flow
Velocity
Froude number
Unit mode
Unit state
Stage, Flow and Velocity
The model and results files of interest should be loaded into the first tab page as normal, and the results location can be modified on the "Time Series’ tab. Then the nodes of interest should be typed in or loaded from a .LNG file. The list can be saved for future use.
Note : If you use an existing lng file to provide a nodes list it is important to ensure all nodes listed in the lng file exist within the model you're processing. Extra, unmatched nodes in an lng file can lead to the Results Extractor tool outputting spurious data. An example where extra nodes might be present in an lng file would be if the nodes represented different development options implemented in other scenarios of the same base model.
The output interval should be set to the desired frequency of hydrograph data. For example, setting the output interval to 1 will mean that data from every save interval is output, while setting the interval to 5 will mean that data from every fifth save interval is output.
Ticking the "Series Peak Summary’ box means an additional .CSV file is output which gives the maximum values of the variable(s) at each node. This is saved as "model_name_variable_Summary.csv’.
To run the Time Series option, the Extract button on the Time Series tab should be pressed. A separate .CSV file is created for each node and variable, listing the value of the selected variable(s) against the time, and is saved in the format "model _name_variable_node_name.csv’.
When extracting time series the spreadsheets on the Peak Outputs / Options / Extras tab are not generated. The Time Series harvester function also performs a background check for numerical noise at the variable peak, and gives warnings in the log file if this is found.
Graphs
Every time a result extraction is carried out long section or time series graphs for each output are generated in the Graphs tab automatically. The graphs can be saved in a variety of formats using the right-click menu options. The Quick Options in the right-click menu allows quick standard labelling and formatting changes. The charts can also be reloaded from the original output files using the Review Previously Harvested option under the File menu. This option allows you to reload a previously saved graph if the Result Extractor project file (.IHP) was saved, without having to re-extract.
A right-click menu provides a series of options to edit, copy, format, print, export and save the output graphs. Quick formatting options allow global edits to legend names and grid lines. Export all allows all the graphs to be saved to graphics files for loading into reports, the Harvester should be changed to an appropriate size first. Overlay XY Time Series allows XY data saved in .CSV format to be added to the visible graph.
