    Article Summary

The Cross Section Selection window is accessed via the Cross Section button on the Results tab (when in 1D River selection mode).

Alternatively, this is accessed via the right-click menu (from the map or network table) of a selected node.

The window contains options related to visualising a Cross Section Plot.

    Node selection

    Available Items/Selected Items

The Available Items list on the left displays all nodes available for plotting from your active 1D river network. Those currently selected are displayed in the Selected Items list on the right. Buttons located between these lists provide functionality to move items from one list to the other. When a node is added to the Selected Items list, it is removed from the Available Items list (and vice versa when nodes are removed from the Selected Items list).

    Dropdown (Model Order by default)

This dropdown allows for selection between alternative ways to order the Available Items and Selected Items lists.

    Result file selection

    Results Files

Loaded results and calibration data files available for plotting are displayed in a list. A checkbox is provided to select to plot from each data file. By default, this list will be populated with any available results files from simulations loaded in the current project (and associated to the active river network.

Note:If there are no simulations currently loaded in the project, or the active simulation has not been run to generate results, the tool will open with no results files specified in the Results Files list. In this case the Variable Selection list (please see below) will default to Bed Elevation (and only certain other parameters related to your underlying cross-section geometry). The Time Range Selection (please see below) will be disabled.

    Add Results/Cus Files(s)

This button opens a standard Windows File Explorer window to allow you to navigate to the location of results or calibration data files. The selected files should contain data associated to some or all of the nodes in the active network. Once loaded, the file will be added to the Results Files list displayed above the button.

    Remove Selected File(s)

This button removes selected files from the Results Files list displayed above the button.

    Variable selection

A table lists all possible variables available for plotting. The default selection is the stage variable only. If a max/mean/min (.mmm) results file has been generated in addition to the standard time series results file, then the variables within this will be automatically added to the variables list and be available for plotting.

Note:If there are no simulations currently loaded in the project, or the active simulation has not been run to generate results, the tool will open with no results files specified in the Results Files list (please see above). In this case, the Variable Selection list will default to Bed Elevation (and only certain other parameters related to your underlying cross-section geometry). Tthe Time Range Selection (please see below) will be disabled.

    Time range selection

A field is provided to specify the Selected Time of the plot. This will be 0 (the start of the simulation) by default.

The Start Time and End Time fields relate to animations of the plot. Default values are the full range of the selected results file. A button is also provided to reset this range to the default values.

Note:If there are no simulations currently loaded in the project, or the active simulation has not been run to generate results, the tool will open with no results files specified in the Results Files list (please see above). In this case, the Variable Selection list (please see above) will default to Bed Elevation (and only certain other parameters related to your underlying cross-section geometry). The Time Range Selection will be disabled.

    Export settings

These fields contain the settings related to the .jpeg files created via the Export Plot Settings File(s) function located within the right-click menu of the 1D River Network panel. Selecting this option in the right-click menu opens a standard Windows File Explorer window to allow you to browse to plot settings files (extension .psf). Clicking Open will then create a .jpeg file of the plot specified in the plot settings file, for every selected file.

    Toolbar functionality

    Plot

This button opens a Cross Section Plot of the selected data.

    Cancel

This button closes the Cross Section Selection window.

    Help

This button opens the user manual.

    Save Plot Settings

This button opens a standard Windows File Explorer window to allow you to save the current plot settings selected to recreate the chart again. This will be saved in a text file (xml format) with extension .psf.

    Load Plot Settings

This button opens a standard Windows File Explorer window to allow you to navigate to the location of a plot settings (.psf) file. Once loaded, selections in the file will populate the Cross Section Selection window.
