If Flood Modeller opens successfully but you encounter a licensing error when running a simulation, it is likely that the model exceeds the limits of the Flood Modeller edition currently in use. These limits vary by edition and differ between current subscription licences and legacy perpetual licences.
You can check the number of 1D nodes in your model by opening the 1D network and double‑clicking General.
You can check the number of active 2D cells by opening the log file generated for the failed simulation.
Please note that:
- New subscription licences are available in the Lite, Standard and Professional editions.
- Customers with perpetual licences purchased prior to January 2026 may also have access to the legacy Unlimited edition, which has uncapped limits.
The limits for each edition of Flood Modeller are shown below:
Edition | 1D nodes | 2D cells |
|---|---|---|
Trial | 40 | 500,000 |
Lite | 40 | 500,000 |
Standard | 400 | 1,000,000 |
Professional (legacy) | 1,000 | 3,000,000 |
| Professional | Unlimited | Unlimited |
