In this tutorial, we will cover how to create your first Hydrology+ project. You will add a Calculation point at which to perform hydrological analysis, and from this create a hydrograph to use in a 1D river simulation.
This tutorial is intended to give you a hands-on tour of Hydrology+ functionality and how the hydrological estimation workflow has been embedded within Flood Modeller, it does not provide detail guidance on undertaking UK hydrology, for which users should be familiar with relevant technical and regulatory guidance. Please note that all examples provided are for the purposes of demonstrating functionality, and should not be considered as recommendations, suggestions, guidance, or otherwise.
To follow this tutorial, you will require access to a network licence for Flood Modeller, as well as licences for ReFH2 and WINFAP. Please contact sales@floodmodeller.com for further information about licence access.
The task
A client is interested in developing on a site. You have been asked to undertake a flood risk assessment and need to assess present day and future climate change river flows in order to evaluate flood risk to the development site. The river at the site has already been modelled and is available below.
Download the river network and follow the steps in the proceeding articles to undertake the flood risk assessment.
It is recommended that the Peak Flow database location is specified in WINFAP before starting analysis in Flood Modeller. To do this, launch WINFAP and follow the prompts provided.
