    Article Summary

Alongside options to output parameters such as flow, velocity and depth from your 2D simulations, Flood Modeller provides functionality for additional shear stress outputs.

To output shear stress from a 2D simulation:

    1. Open the simulation in the usual manner

    2. Navigate to the Domains tab, and then to the Outputs subtab

    3. On the right-hand side, the available outputs are listed. Check the box(es) of the additional shear stress outputs of interest. These include Bed shear stress, Excess shear stress, Shields parameter and Stream competence.

    4. Click on the Shear stress settings tab

    5. Enter values for all the parameters. You can press the F1 key to view the user manual and check which parameters are used in the calculations for each output. Parameters not used in the calculations will be ignored, but must still be entered.

    6. Click Save to store your changes.

    7. Click Run to run the simulation and visualise your newly calculated shear stress outputs.
