Included in the catalogue functionality is a validation tool. This analyses the loaded catalogue, comparing content to the expected content detailed in the associated template. It reports where expected data are missing, to help you assess where further work is still required for your project.
This section details how to run a validation and how to interpret the results (i.e. fix issues arising):
Load the catalogue to be assessed in Flood Modeller
Click on Validate Catalogue in the Catalogue toolbar
A “busy working” cursor is displayed while the validation is in progress. The analysis is complete when the mouse cursor returns to a standard pointer. After validation has run, data entries in the catalogue overview tab (map panel) and simulation details table (right-hand panel) that have validation issues will be highlighted:
If a required data entry, i.e. marked as essential in the associated template, is missing then the row will be highlighted in orange. In the example below, simulation run type is a required item (i.e. it has to be set to complete the catalogue, e.g. set to “design” or “calibration”)
Some data entries in the template are optional but it is still recommended they are filled in. The validation highlights these in yellow, e.g. simulation duration value in the example below.
The catalogue toolbar provides options for displaying your validation results:
Highlight Issues – toggles the orange (required data) and yellow (recommended, but optional data) highlighting on and off.
Show Issues Only – hides all rows that don’t have an issue. Click again to show all rows.
Expand All – expands all branches of the project tree so you can visualise all validation issues (note; currently there is no collapse all command).
A catalogue can only be considered as complete when a validation yields no orange rows.
