Please note, this guide refers to the urban Conduit link, however the same method applies for urban Pump, Weir, Orifice and Outlet links.
Note: If you want the length of your conduit to be automatically calculated based on the line drawn on the map, you must first set the length equal to zero in the Model Defaults. Recall how to do this from the Urban Networks section. This must be done before adding a link. Once your link has been drawn, you cannot set the length equal to zero in the link properties to use this functionality.
On the 1D Urban Build tab, initially confirm you are in 1D Urban selection mode by ensuring the toggle is coloured blue.
Click the Add link icon and a pop-up window will appear. Notice the Start node field is highlighted initially.
Note: Click on this window and drag to ensure it is not in the way of your map view
In the Map view, click on the inflow node the link is to be connected to. Alternatively, click in the Start node field and type the name of the node, or select it from the drop-down list (starting to type will filter the list accordingly). Notice the Start node field now contains the label of the node you selected in the map, and the tool is now automatically highlighting the End node field instead.
In the Map view, click on the outflow node the link is to be connected to. Alternatively, click in the End node field and type the name of the node, or select it from the drop-down list (starting to type will filter the list accordingly).
Note : The Link type drop-down will be set to CONDUIT by default. This can be adjusted if a different link type is required.
Click the Add Link button when you are satisfied with the start and end nodes selected. The link will automatically be added to the map view, and the Links tab of the 1D Urban Network panel. It will be pre-filled with values and options set on the Model Defaults window, recall how to edit these defaults from the section.
You will notice the Start node field is highlighted again, ready for you to add another link. Click the Close button when you have finished adding links and the pop-up tool will close.
