FEH catchments view

FEH Catchment Descriptor functionality is outline here, with further details of the tabular view here.

Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH) catchment descriptors are calculated and published by UKCEH.  Further details of descriptors are provided below:

Imported FEH catchments will be displayed on the Map view when the View FEH Catchments button is toggled on. Additionally these catchments will be displayed in a list when the FEH Tabular View button is toggled on. Right-click menus are available from the FEH catchments from both of these views.

The FEH catchment colour and transparency displayed in the Map view can be adjusted via the Hydrology+ Application Settings

The right-click menu from an FEH catchment in the Map view contains the following options:

Field in interface

Description

View gauge information

This option is relevant only when the selected component in the map is a Gauge station

View catchment descriptor information

Opens the properties of the selected FEH catchment descriptor in a new window.

Delete catchment descriptor

Deletes the selected catchment descriptor from your hydrology database. This will mean the catchment descriptor is deleted fully and not available through any Hydrology+ projects. The catchment would need to be re-imported if needed in future projects.
Note - Catchment descriptors used in a calculation point cannot be deleted from the database unless the calculation point is deleted first.

Create calculation point

Creates a Calculation point to perform hydrological analysis at this catchment.

Calculation point properties

These options are relevant only when the selected component in the map is a Calculation Point.

Delete calculation point

Other menu items

The remaining menu items are not specific to FEH catchments.

The right-click menu from an FEH catchment in the tabular view contains the following options:

Field in interface

Description

Select all

Allows you to quickly select all available catchments in the tabular view. The Select all option is useful when you want to perform batch operations on multiple catchments simultaneously. For example, you can delete all selected catchments or apply specific settings to all of them at once.

Go to selection

Allows you to quickly navigate to the specific location of that catchment on the map. This feature is helpful when you want to visually inspect the catchment area, its boundaries, and its relationship to other features within your model. It streamlines the process of locating specific catchments on the map, especially when dealing with multiple catchments.

View catchment descriptor info

Opens the properties of the selected FEH catchment descriptor in a new window.

Delete selected items

Deletes the selected catchment descriptor(s) from your hydrology database. This will mean the catchment descriptor is deleted fully and not available through any Hydrology+ projects. The catchment would need to be re-imported if needed in future projects.
Note - Catchment descriptors used in a calculation point cannot be deleted from the database unless the calculation point is deleted first.
