The Flood Studies Update (FSU) methodology is research commissioned, managed and funded by the Office of Public Works (OPW) and is a substantial update of the Flood Studies Report (NERC, 1975), that provides methodologies for flood estimation in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Data obtained from the FSU Portal can be used directly within Flood Modeller.
The Hydrology tab provides access to the FSU Portal homepage. From here you can sign in as usual.
In the usual manner, you can enter the application and navigate through the tabs provided.
As you reach the final step within the Hydrograph Widths tab, namely the Flood Estimation Completion, click the button provided to view the final characteristic hydrograph data in a new window.
Data from this table can be copied and pasted directly into a Flow-Time (QT) boundary to provide the inflow to your simulation. Be aware that if you start your simulation at time 0, (and leave the data as is, with time relative to the peak) you will be starting your simulation at the peak of the hydrograph.
Alternatively, you can copy the entire table and save this in .csv format, then specify to use one of the profiles to "override" the profile used in any of the (inflow) boundaries in your network! Add a (dummy) QTBDY node to your network (for example) and override this profile by Using Flow-Time Series Data - find out more in River Simulations section.
