# 1D river simulations - updating tab

The Updating tab provides various updating options, as follows:

- ‘Write updating initial conditions file’ – select this option if you want to write an updating initial conditions file for subsequent use.
- ‘Destroy invalid uic file’ – select this option to destroy the uic file should an updating simulation fail.
- ‘Updating Initial Conditions Input File’ – Click to browse to the required file name.
- ‘Updating zzn output file’ – use this option to create a zzn file of the first updating iteration.
- ‘Updating cold start’ – select this option to defer updating until the first save interval.
- ‘Output updating diagnostics file’ – if selected, updating diagnostics will be output to a *iud file.
