# Trial licences

If on opening the software, you receive the pop-up **No licence found**, you can troubleshoot the problem to identify the issue:

1. Check you successfully [activated your trial licence](/v1/docs/trial-licence-activation)
2. Did you activate the licence on the machine you're currently using? The trial is locked to a single machine.
3. Check your trial licence is [still valid](/v1/docs/is-my-licence-up-to-date) as it's only enabled for 14-days from activation.
4. If your trial licence is still valid, [what software version are you using](/v1/docs/which-edition-am-i-using). Older versions of Flood Modeller do not work.

If you are still unable to open the software, please copy and paste **%appdata%\Flood Modeller\logs** into Windows File Explorer to locate your latest logfile, and email it to our [support team](mailto:support@floodmodeller.com).
