# Replicated Section

The Replicated Section is a quick method for adding a cross-section which has exactly the same dimensions as the cross-section immediately upstream. It can be lower or higher than the upstream section.

## Theory and Guidance

The *Replicated Section* is used to copy the preceding river or conduit section at a distance dx further along the reach and at a level dz lower.

The *Replicated Section* is a quick method for adding a cross-section which has exactly the same dimensions as the cross-section immediately upstream. The cross-section can be lower or higher than the one upstream. Any number of *Replicated Sections* can be included following each other.

### General

*Replicated Sections* must be preceded by either a [River](/v1/docs/river-section-overview) or [Conduit](/v1/docs/circular-conduit) section (not an interpolated section). A replicated section will be the last river or conduit section in a reach if the chainage dx is given as zero.

Line 1 - keyword `REPLICATE' [comment]

Line 2 - label1, [label2, label3]

Line 3 - dx, dz, easting, northing
