# Standalone licences

If on opening the software, you receive the pop-up **No licence found**, you can troubleshoot the problem to identify the issue:

1. Ensure your USB dongle is correctly connected to an active USB port.
2. Confirm the software is not already open - each licence allows one instance of the interface to be open at any one time.

3. There may be a fault with the hardware itself, please [check your USB dongle is working](/v1/docs/is-my-dongle-working).
4. Your licence may be out of date for the version of Flood Modeller you are trying to open, [check your licence is up to date](/v1/docs/is-my-licence-up-to-date).

If you are still unable to open the software, please copy and paste **%appdata%\Flood Modeller\logs** into Windows File Explorer to locate your latest logfile, and email it to our [support team](mailto:support@floodmodeller.com).[](mailto:support@floodmodeller.com)
