To define inflow directly entering a Junction node, initially open the properties window of the Junction node. Recall how to do this from the Urban Junction and Outfall Nodes section.
The Inflows field will be set to NO by default. Click in this field and 3 dots will become visible on the right. Click these 3 dots to access the Node Inflows window for this Junction.
The first tab allows specification of Direct inflow. The Time Series field will be blank. A drop-down is provided on the right from which you can select any time series that have already been defined for this urban network. Nothing will show here if you haven't defined any time series yet.
To define a new time series, double-click in the blank Time Series field. The Time Series Editor will open in a new window. You can also edit defined time series by selecting the series from the drop-down and then double-clicking on the series name, or on the Edit button (first button to the right of the field, indicated by a hand-with-pencil icon). In this case the Time Series Editor will open containing the previous series.
Tip: If you want to define a new time series and one is currently selected in the Time Series field, use the backspace key on your keyboard, or the Remove button (second button to the right of the field, indicated by a cross icon), to remove the series. The field will then be blank and you can double-click to define a new series, as above.
Enter a Time Series Name in the field provided. A description can optionally be added. By default, the option will be selected to provide a table of values for the series. You can enter data into this table manually, or right-click in the table for options including Paste. If pasting data, click in the first cell you want to start pasting in before accessing the right-click menu. The View button can be used to visualise the series.
Note: Ensure you pay attention to the column headers to add your flow correctly! The first column can be left blank, in which case the start date of the simulation will be used.
Click OK when finished entering the details. The Time Series Editor will close and your series name will be automatically added to the Time Series field of the Node Inflows window.
Note: You can edit this further by double-clicking again on the series name, or on the Edit button (first button to the right of the field, indicated by a hand-with-pencil icon). Alternatively, create another new series by using the backspace key to completely delete the series name, or the Remove button (second button to the right of the field, indicated by a cross icon), and then double-click on the (now empty) Time Series field. The Time Series Editor will open in a new window and your pre-existing series will remain unaffected.
Once you are satisfied with the series selected in the Time Series field, click OK to return to the Junction node properties. You will notice the Inflows field will be set to YES. Close the Junction node properties and don't forget to then save your urban network to keep this change.
Note: Don't forget to then save your urban network!
