If a shape file has been defined to represent 2D model link lines, but it does not have the required attribute fields then these can be added within Flood Modeller. The procedure is as follows:
Load link line shape file into viewport (Add GIS Data button in Home tab, Map Tools tab or the Layers panel header).
Click on the shape file layer in the Layers panel, right click and select the Start edit option from the displayed menu. The shape file will go to edit mode (a red star is displayed next to it in the Layers panel) and the Layer Editor tab will be activated in the main toolbar.
Click the Attributes Window button in the editing toolbar to display shape file attributes in a new window. Click the edit attribute table fields button in the window header:
A new window (field editor window) is displayed that lists the currently defined attributes and provides tools for adding/deleting new attributes
Use this window to:- Define a new attribute field name and type, i.e. string, integer or real number (for the latter a number of decimal places to store is set by the precision value). Click on the ’Add new field’ button to create the new field within your shape file. For a 2D Model link lines shape file this method must be repeated for all required fields.
- Remove unwanted fields y selecting them in the Field editor table; by placing a tick in the adjacent box, and clicking the 'Delete checked' button in the toolbar.
When all required changes have been made, close the field editor window. Then select Save from the Layer Editor Tab. Alternatively select to Stop Editing from this menu and select to save changes when prompted.
