The Arch Bridge computes the afflux at a single arch or multiple arched bridges using the HR Wallingford method.
The area under each arch is calculated from the soffit and the springing level, assuming that the arch shape is parabolic.
Steps
In the 1D River Network table, confirm you have a River Section at both the upstream and downstream face of the bridge.
Tip:
If only one River Section exists, select the River Section in the 1D River Network, Right-click and select Copy. Right-click again and select Paste. Rename the duplicated River Section with an appropriate node label.
Set the Distance to next value as zero within the upstream River Section.
From the 1D River Build tab, select the Bridges dropdown menu and select Arch. Manually place the Arch Bridge unit between the upstream and downstream River Sections. Copy the node labels of the upstream and downstream River Sections into the upstream and downstream labels of the Arch Bridge unit.
Copy the 'x (m)', 'y (m AD)' and 'Mannings n' data from the upstream River Section into the 'Cross-Chainage (m)', 'Elevation (m AD)' and 'Mannings n' columns of the Arch Bridge unit. If more appropriate, copy the data from the downstream River Section instead.
Specify the Start and Finish cross-chainages of the bridge opening. Specify the Springing Level and Soffit Level of the arch opening. If there are multiple openings, right-click and select Insert Below and then repeat step 6 above
Tip:
Select Plot to view the bridge section data.
Your Arch Bridge is now added to your river reach. Make sure to save the adjusted river network!
