File-Based Licence Activation

n most cases, you will activate or update your licence, by opening the unique activation link which is sent to you by our support team.
Occasionally, depending on your licence or server configuration, you may need to visit our online portal (http://lc.codemeter.com/74447/depot/index.php) and enter the ticket ID for your order. This is the last 25 characters (separated in groups of 5 characters) in the link sent to you.
There are two ways of using this portal; this page explain the process of File-based licence activation.
Usually, this approach is used with machines that do not have direct internet access and an intermediate machine is used to exchange the necessary files with the portal. In all other cases, please try the Direct Licence Activation first. Please note that the portal supports Chrome and Edge browsers. CodeMeter is not required to be installed on the intermediate machine.
Activating a new licence
Open the unique activation link that was sent to you
A web page will open with a number of options displayed (2 to 5 depending on the container being used). Please select the option relevant to you. Our support team can advise if you’re unsure.
After selecting the appropriate container, you are transferred to the activation page. As mentioned above, there are two activation methods. If a web page similar to the figure below appears, please switch to the File-based activation page by clicking File-based license transfer on the right.
Please make sure you are on the web page shown below (File-based Activation).
On the file-based activation screen, you will need to upload a context file from the container where you wish to install the licences.
Click on Choose file and upload the context file you created in the previous step.
Click on the green button Start Activation Now to proceed to the next page.
Click on the green button Download License Update File Now to receive the update file and save it on your machine. Transfer and install the update to the container.
Once the update is applied, please create a receipt file and transfer it to the machine from where you are accessing the portal.
The web portal should be at the page shown in step 8. If not, please use the link sent by our support team to get to this page again and click the green button Next.
You should now be in the last step of the process where you need to upload the receipt file created in step 9. Click on Choose file and select the receipt file.
Click on the green button Upload Receipt Now. If everything went well, you should see a confirmation message and you can close the page.
If you receive any error messages, please contact support stating the error and provide a screenshot if possible.
Update an existing licence
The process is similar to the new licence above. After clicking on the link sent by our support team, you should see a page similar to that in step 4. If not, you may seek guidance in step 3 on this page or look at the Direct Licence Activation page on how to go past the Auto Update page.
