    Rating curves (can be implemented via the QRating unit in Flood Modeller) are necessary for the following reasons :

    1. To simulate the hydraulic effects of control structures when the model is calculating flow splits at a junction.
    2. To provide water levels at selected locations within discharge routing reaches.
