Check descriptions - GIS / floodmapping

    Article summary

    Missing GIS Data

The program will check every unit in the model to see if it contains GIS data. It then reports a warning and lists the node name of the failed unit and the number of points which are missing GIS data. At the end the number of units which have failed is reported along with the number of points with missing GIS data.

    Looped GIS Data

This check ensures no river section, spill or floodplain has looped GIS data. If any units fail an error is output and the node name is listed along with the type of unit (River section / spill /floodplain). If the unit has missing GIS data the check cannot be carried out on the unit and a warning is made, listing the node name and stating 'Missing GIS Data - Unable to Check’.

Intersecting Cross Sections, Intersecting Spills / Floodplains, Intersecting Spills / Floodplains with Sections

These checks ensure that the appropriate sections do not have intersecting GXY data. The first will test every river cross section against all others, the second tests every spill and floodplain unit against all others and the third checks every river cross section against all spills and floodplains. If any sections are found to intersect then an error is recorded and the two units are listed. If a section is found to be missing GXY data a warning is made and the node name listed.

    Spill Orientation

The check will go through every river section and interpolate and ensures that any spills or floodplains attached are the correct way round. It does this using the GXY data to make sure the first section point in the spill / floodplain is closer to the cross section it is attached to than the last point in the section. If this is not the case the river section / interpolate and spill / floodplain node names are listed as a 'Spill wrong Direction’ warning. If GXY data is not found in any of the units the river section / interpolate node name is listed and a 'Missing GIS Data, Unable to Check' warning is made. If the spill or floodplain unit listed in the river section / interpolate cannot be found in the model the node name is listed with a 'Missing Side Spill, Unable to Check' warning is output.
