# Check CodeMeter version

If you want to check what version of CodeMeter you are using, please follow the instructions below:

### Machine with Desktop Environment

1. Open CodeMeter Control Center
2. Go to Help > About
3. You will see a window like this:

### Machine without Desktop Environment

Depending on your installation path, run either of the following commands:

```
"C:\Program Files\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin\cmu.exe" --version
```

or

```
"C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin\cmu.exe" --version
```

Latest CodeMeter Runtime version

Starting with Flood Modeller v7.3, in order to get the best performance, and security, CodeMeter Runtime on your system must be on v8.xx.

It is safe to update CodeMeter independently of Flood Modeller by downloading and running the installer from the official page: [WIBU Systems - User Software](https://www.wibu.com/support/user/user-software.html).

Please note that during the installation on a machine acting as your licence server, you need to make sure that all the "server" components are selected for installation. See the highlighted items in the image below for guidance:
