2D Simulations - Domains Tab

The domains are listed in the top section of this tab. The lower section is split into multiple subtabs.

Domains

A Flood Modeller 2D model can be composed of one or more computational domains. By default, a “Domain 1” is automatically created, but you can add more domains to be included in the same simulation file. When you define the elements of your 2D model, they must be associated to a particular domain.

Within the 2D model Simulation window you can define multiple domains as part of the same project, i.e. effectively separate models within your modelling project. For each one of these you will then need to define all of the data in each subtab separately. All of the data associated to your domains will then be saved to the same 2D project file (XML file).

Add a domain by clicking the Add button and a new window will be displayed:

Enter a Domain Name and choose a solver from the drop-down list (ADI, TVD, FAST or FAST Dynamic). Click OK to create the new domain. Alternatively, highlight a domain and select Copy… to create a new domain that retains any details set up in the highlighted domain. Note a domain name must be entered and a solver selected in order to create a new (or copied) domain. The Remove button can be used to remove any domains, and a prompt box will appear to confirm the action before deletion:

The domain details are then given on the series of subtabs below. Ensure when entering parameters on each subtab, the relevant 2D domain is highlighted in the user interface.

Subtabs

Each domain is composed of some or all of the following components, split onto the various subtabs in the lower section of the window.
