    Article Summary

The following datasets may be useful when modelling with the 2D solver.

    Creating a 2D model

Flood Modeller's 2D solvers can be used to model flows and water-levels in any location where ground elevation data is available. This dataset contains the files needed to create a simple 2D model with a boundary inflow using flow-time (QT) data from an event file (.ied). This dataset is used with the 2D Domain How to guides.

    Embedded structures

A modelled 2D domain may contain key flow paths that are not picked up by the topography data you have available. These may be channels, open or closed conduits transporting flows through embankments or even short pathways such as archways under a bridge. The 2D solver offers an option to define certain 1D components using a shapefile and associated structure file . This option allows one or multiple culverts, weirs or orifices to be added to a 2D domain. This dataset contains the files needed to create a simple 2D model (as per the Creating a 2D model section) with the addition of a 1D embedded culvert file. This dataset is used with the How to define an embedded structure for a 2D model guide.

    The GPU solver

Flood Modeller's GPU-enabled 2D solver is amazingly fast, offering users significant time savings when running larger models. We have undertaken extensive testing and benchmarking to make sure the 2D GPU solver meets the highest possible standards and is optimised for speed. This dataset contains two simulations setup to run with The 2D GPU Solver to enable you to see these results yourself.
